Fundamentals of Acting

This course provides a foundational approach to studying acting through engaging exercises, interactive games, group discussions, and scene work. Students will focus on key elements such as performing monologues, overcoming stage fright, harnessing imagination, embracing playfulness, understanding "the moment before," and navigating the audition process. The class emphasizes the use of acting terminology and the development of active listening skills through individual and group presentations. As a performance-based course, students will actively participate by speaking in front of the class during every session.

Course Objectives
Monologues: Learn to identify objectives and effectively achieve them.
Scene Study: Analyze what is happening in a scene and determine your character's role within it.
Improvisation: Develop techniques to stay relaxed, spontaneous, and adaptable.
Character Analysis: Build authentic characters by exploring their inner motivations and traits.
Auditioning: Master the audition process, including preparation, execution, and booking roles.
