GFA 1500 exposes students to the many career paths within the Esports industry while also providing the basic skills and insights to support an Esports tournament. Offered in collaboration with Skillshot Media, GFA 1500 provides students with theoretical and hands-on experience in game publishing, tournament and league operation, live production, event management, broadcast distribution, on-air talent casting, team organization, sponsorship and marketing, community and social management. Students also practice the basic terminology and the networking and self-marketing skills necessary to the game development and Esports industry. GFA 1500 is currently offered via the hybrid model, which will provide students with the ability to come to an industry hub to receive hands-on Esports instruction, while completing lectures, discussions, tests, and assignments virtually. Students are expected to meet synchronously on Thursdays 10:00-4:00 for lectures and practical demonstrations. Three times during the semester, students will meet in person at Esports industry hubs in Downtown Atlanta and Grant Park/Krog Street areas. Further specialty courses are in development, with an expected launch in summer and fall 2021 semesters, which will round out the 18-credit hour GFA Esports certification. *GFA 3500 does not replace GFA 1000 for those students pursuing certification in production and/or post production. It is currently only offered as a stand-alone course.
