Learn to communicate using American Sign Language (ASL). In this introduction course, you will learn the major components of ASL, develop basic sign vocabulary to use in conversation, and get an introduction to the Deaf Community, culture and history.

Going I-75 South or North, take exit 233 and turn left. Go to sixth light and turn right on Clayton State Blvd. Take the next right at traffic light onto North Lee Street and then left on Simpson Drive. The Harry S Downs Center for Continuing Education will be the last building on your left. You will pass Spivey Hall and the Music Education Building.

Cassandra M. Ammons is a native of Atlanta, Georgia. She is the American Sign Language (ASL) Instructor at Clayton State University, Continuing and Professional Education (CaPE). She graduated from Clark Atlanta University with a BA in Accounting and received her Certification in The ASL Immersion Training Program for Interpreters from Floyd College. Cassandra finds gratification in taking her students on a journey through any subject, watching them grasp the information, complete the course feeling confident, and wanting to continue the learning experience.
